Magnesium-Air Fuel Cell (MAFC)

MagPower's approach to an alternative energy source is the development of a powerful, reliable and environmentally friendly non-toxic fuel cell that generates electricity through the combination of a saltwater electrolyte, air (oxygen), magnesium and MagPower’s patented technologies. The magnesium-air technology has never reached the commercial stage due to several technological barriers such as hydrogen generation, precipitate control, anode material, air-diffusion cathode and expensive manufacturing process. Collaborative projects between MagPower Systems and industrial consultants have resulted in new and improved technologies which have advanced the magnesium-air fuel cell to commercialization.

Hydrogen Inhibitors (HI)

MagPower has developed powerful, reliable and environmentally friendly non-toxic inhibitors that have been shown to control the formation of hydrogen in certain commercial applications.

The commercial application for the hydrogen inhibitors will significantly reduce power consumption and increase the efficiency in the electrowinning production of metals such as zinc, manganese, cobalt, gold, silver, copper and nickel.

Hydrogen inhibitors will be used in the zinc alkaline battery as they have proven to extend the operating life by 35%.
