Chairman & Managing Director: Chris Hilliard – Businessman, Corporate Director
Mr. Hilliard assumed the roles of Chairman and Managing Director of MagPower Systems Inc. in November of 2009. Prior to joining MagPower, Chris founded a private capital consultancy, Peak Producers Inc., in 2003. This followed years of success as both a Vice-President at a boutique investment management firm and as an Associate Director, Vice President and Branch Manager at one of Canada’s premier investment dealers. Peak Producers has been involved in both public and private capital raises totaling more than $60 million since its inception. Chris occupied senior management roles in each of the companies he has worked with.
Chief Technology Officer & Founder: Bruce Downing M. Sc. P.Geo, FEC (Hon) – Corporate Director
A graduate of Queens University (B.Sc.) and the University of Toronto (M.Sc.), he has over 30 years of experience working for corporations and as a consultant on surface and underground gold and base metal exploration and production projects in British Columbia and around the world. His early experience centered on exploration but since 1989 his career has expanded into mining, the environment and technology. He has published several papers concerning exploration, computing, history, electrochemistry and environmental topics. In 1983, he co-founded a software company for developing commercial geochemical programs for use in the exploration and mining industry.
In 1999, he founded a high tech company to develop the magnesium-air technology for use in fuel cell commercial products. He has also been involved in mining-related environmental and reclamation programs and has initiated several research and development projects, some of which have led to patents. During his time with the software and technology companies, he was involved in promotions, marketing and attending trade shows. He has been involved with several junior mining companies as a director and consultant. He presently sits on the Geoscience Committee and is a member of several professional organizations. In 1997 the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists presented him with the Chris Westerman award, which is the highest geosciences’ recognition.
